The Inca City Council is once again organising the “Urbana Inca: Architecture and Sustainability” conference, which for the second year running will be held at the Ramis Factory. This year, the professionals who have been chosen for the presentations are two architects from the island, Jaume Mayol and Marià Castelló, with the intention of highlighting the knowledge and know-how that exist in the Balearic Islands.

Thus, this new edition of Urbana Inca 2022: Architecture and Sustainability will be held on Thursday 20 October at 7 pm. The event will be chaired by the island councillor for Territorial Planning, Maria Antònia Garcías, the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno, and the councillor for Strategic Projects of Inca City Council, Gregori Ferrà.

“Although it may give the impression that this is a meeting of experts, with this initiative we want to bring the field of architecture, generally little known, to all citizens. And even better if we can do so from the perspective of sustainability and renewable energies,” says Ferrà. In this sense, the councillor for Strategic Projects adds that “for this reason, this conference is being held on the Thursday before the first Inca fair, the Earth Fair”.

The two speakers at Urbana Inca 22: Architecture and Sustainability have a great track record and international prestige. Jaume Mayol runs the TEd’A arquitectes studio together with Irene Pérez in Mallorca. Both combine their professional and academic practice and their work has won multiple awards.

The second speaker, Mariano Castelló, graduated as an architect from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona with honours. His life and work are closely linked to the island of Formentera, whose landscape, culture and tradition have been a constant reference and inspiration. The fruit of his work has been recognised at the European level with different awards.
