The Balearic Sports Assembly approves the 12 candidates for the IB Sports Awards 2022

\ The Esports IB 2022 Awards will be presented on 18th December at the Gala de l’Esport de les Illes Balears (Balearic Islands Sports Gala).

\ ÒSantiago has reported on the budgets for 2023 and has highlighted the 273% increase in the items aimed at strengthening the sporting fabric.

The Plenary of the Balearic Sports Assembly (ABE) has approved this Wednesday the candidatures for the Premis Esports IB 2022, which will be awarded on 18 December at the Gala de l’Esport de les Illes Balears. The winners will be chosen by the jury.

The president of the ABE, the councillor of Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, and the vice-president, the director general of Sports, Carles Gonyalons, presided over the plenary session, which brings together more than 50 representatives of the sporting fabric of the Balearic Islands.

Likewise, the Councillor for Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, presented the Sports budget for next year at the plenary session of the Balearic Sports Assembly. The budgets for 2023 amount to 25,698,272 euros and represent 15.92% more than in 2022.

Of the budgets presented, the item to strengthen the sporting fabric (federations, clubs and athletes) through subsidies and sponsorships (outstanding athletes, state category clubs, sporting events and ordinary expenses of the federations, among others) stands out, which, in 2023, will rise to 5.6 million euros. In 2015, this figure was 1.5 million euros. As the councillor for Social Affairs and Sports, Fina Santiago, points out, in the last eight years a very important effort has been made to strengthen the sporting structure of Balearic sport through subsidies and sponsorships for federations, clubs and athletes. A growth of 273% and 4.1 million euros more than in 2015.

In relation to 2022, the growth is 1,125,000 euros, and especially highlights the item of sponsorships to sports clubs participating in regular leagues of maximum state non-professional category, which increases from 500,000 to 800,000 euros.

These 5.6 million euros for federations, athletes and clubs are complemented by 1.2 million euros for inter-island sports travel and 200,000 euros for federations for equipment.
