An exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Joan Fuster opens in Eivissa

The initiative brings us closer to the life of the Valencian intellectual and his relationship with the Balearic Islands.
The exhibition “Joan Fuster: una vida il-lustrada” (Joan Fuster: an illustrated life) was inaugurated at midday this Saturday at the Municipal Library of Eivissa as part of the events to commemorate Joan Fuster Year organised by the Government of the Balearic Islands.

The event was attended by the Director General of Language Policy of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Beatriu Defior; the Commissioner for Joan Fuster Year, Damià Pons, and the Director of the Municipal Library of Eivissa, Fanny Tur.

The exhibition features fourteen panels explaining the life and legacy of the Valencian intellectual, and three more dedicated to Fuster’s relationship with the Balearic Islands. The curator of the exhibition is Salvador Ortells, who is also the curator of the Fuster Year in the Valencian Country as well as the director of the Espai Fuster.

The initiative has been promoted by the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua and organised by the Dirección General de Política Lingüística del Govern de les Illes Balears in collaboration with the Ajuntament d’Eivissa.

The Government of the Balearic Islands, together with the Generalitat Valenciana and the Generalitat de Catalunya, has declared 2022 Joan Fuster Year, in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of this intellectual, writer and cultural activist.

The main event of Joan Fuster Year in the Balearic Islands will be held next Wednesday in the Porreres Auditorium, with performances by Maria del Mar Bonet and Borja Penalba, among others. Tickets can be purchased at the website dgpoling.caib.cat.
