The municipal government team has agreed not to raise taxes so as not to tax the post-pandemic situation. Similarly, in 2023 the prices of public services will not be updated with the CPI, as has been done in other budget years. “The aim is to reduce the tax burden on citizens, but also on companies that operate in our city. That is why we will continue to exempt the payment of taxes for activities such as the use of the public highway by bar terraces or restaurants,” explained Moreno. In this way, along with regular investments in promoting the city as an economic hub, will have a strong presence in municipal policies for the coming year.
It should be noted that the Inca City Council has planned to spend more than two million euros on investments. This amount will go mainly to maintenance, security and social services. “These will be the areas we want to promote during the coming year, but this does not mean that we will not be attentive to all European investment lines, from the central government or our institutions to bring more investment to our city,” said the Mayor.
In the case of maintenance, special emphasis will be placed on the upkeep of urban spaces (gardens, furniture, parks, streets…) to make them a real meeting point for citizens. Special mention will also be made of improving infrastructures such as street lighting (1 million euros), asphalting streets (400,000 euros) and improving water pipes.
In terms of security, in 2023 the consolidation and increase in the pool of local police officers will continue. “We want to ensure that the officers continue to improve the service they provide and that new needs that may arise from the new times are taken into account,” said Moreno. The municipal accounts also include an increase and improvement in the staffing of the social services area. The aim of this action is to reduce any situation arising from the pandemic and to be prepared in a case similar situations occur.
In total, the municipal accounts of the City Council of Inca for the year 2023 amount to 32,722,241 euros. On the revenue side, almost 20 million euros is expected to be collected in direct taxes, indirect taxes and fees. “The important thing, in terms of the purely economic aspect, is that Inca Town Council will maintain a zero deficit, which will allow us to deal with any situation,” Moreno commented.
