The Planas Archive is the most important archive on the history of tourism in the Balearic Islands. It is still in a proto-archive phase and requires cataloguing, a conservation system, digitalisation and social dynamisation.
It is estimated that it has 3 million images. In them, we can find postcards, negatives, contact strips, print proofs, posters, collection images, etc. Its chronological scope is from 1940 to 1970. Its geographical scope is mainly the Balearic Islands, but there are also images of Catalonia and postcards from international collections.

Josep Planas i Montanyà, born in Catalonia, was a visionary of tourist photography who arrived in Mallorca in 1942, and the collection holds the output of the first photographic industry in the Balearic Islands, CASA PLANAS. The company documented the tourist boom and was a pioneer in various photographic techniques.
The ownership of the copyright belongs to Marina Planas Antich and is managed independently from the Casa Planas Creation Centre with the support of citizens who wish to preserve our history. More info: http://www.casaplanas.org/works/apoyanos/
