The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has awarded 3,037,139.20 euros to the Council of Mallorca, the Council of Formentera and the City Council of Maó in the Next Generation calls for businesses in tourist areas and rural areas.

This was agreed upon at the inter-territorial meeting convened by the Ministry with all the autonomous communities, with the participation of the Vice-Presidency of the Government and the Ministry of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, through the Directorate General of Commerce.

With this figure, which represents 2.87% of the total funding, “we have managed to extend the population criterion, which would only correspond to 2.57%, and we have achieved the distribution between islands”, celebrates the Director General of Trade, Miquel Piñol.

It is worth remembering that Eivissa was the main beneficiary of the 2022 call and is already implementing the Next Generation projects for the commercial sector, which will now be joined by projects from the rest of the islands.

“We have managed to ensure that, as of today, all the islands have Next Generation funds for commerce,” said Piñol. “In the 2021 call for proposals, Eivissa was the main beneficiary, and this year it will also be Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera. In fact, Formentera will have the largest budget, with a total of 1.2 million euros”. added the director general.

In addition to the 1.2 million euros that the Formentera Council will receive, the Consell de Mallorca will receive more than 900,000 euros for businesses in tourist areas and up to 393,000 for rural areas.

The Maó Town Council, meanwhile, will receive more than 500,000 euros within the line of tourist areas.
