Free education
Free of charge for the whole stage from 0 to 3 years of age
As has been communicated to the nearly 70 mayors and councillors, now the Govern de les Illes Balears is working on a new decree-law that will regulate free education and that will allow the signing of new agreements between the Ministry of Education and Universities and the municipalities to implement the measure in all stages of early childhood education.
At the beginning of the next school year, a transitional regime will be established to carry out the relevant legal and accounting procedures and to make the payment of the fees from 0 to 3 years old as quickly as possible.
10 months per year
In the same way that was already foreseen in the decree law that guaranteed free schooling to families with children from 2-3 years old, the new regulation will include all students in the early childhood education stages who will be entitled to the measure for 4 hours of schooling per day, with a maximum of 10 months per year, from September to June.
With the new decree-law, the Govern de les Illes Balears guarantees that from the school year 2024-2025 the free schooling of the infant stage will be paid from the beginning of the school year.
Visits to all municipalities
On the other hand, during today’s meeting, the councillor Antoni Vera has taken the opportunity to introduce the manager of the Institut Balear d’Infraestructures i Serveis Educatius (IBISEC) Mateu Suñer, to the municipal representatives and has announced that, shortly, will begin a round of visits in all municipalities to know the state of educational facilities.
