Bàrbara Miquel, currently studying 3rd year of percussion, has been selected by the Youth Orchestra of the Canary Islands (JOCAN). María Gómez, also a percussion student, this year studying 4th year, has been selected by the Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid (JORCAM). Finally, Rocío Miñana, a 2nd-year violin student, and Joan Fiol, a 4th-year cello student, have been selected to play with JUNCO, the National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia.

These young orchestras, linked to an autonomous community, usually call auditions annually, to select young talents (between 16 and 25 years old) born or residing in the autonomous community in question, to participate in their orchestral meetings. These meetings, designed to act as a bridge between the educational stage and the professional world, are held during the school year or in summer and usually consist of an intensive week of rehearsals and a subsequent concert tour.

Although the vast majority of places are reserved for young people from the orchestra’s autonomous community, a few places are also reserved for young people from other parts of the state who have excelled in the selection process.
