New visual identity of the Government

The Consell de Govern has today agreed on the new visual identity of the Govern de les Illes Balears with the recovery and updating of the historical coat of arms of the Autonomous Community, with the four red bars on a yellow background and the blue crossed stripe and with the gold lambrequins simplified, but with a cleaner and more modern design. The isotype and typography have been defined to make the graphic denomination of the Government of the Balearic Islands permanent over time.

With this agreement, the distinctive symbol and its complete denomination, which had been changed eight years ago for a communicative brand, has been recovered, losing the official nature corresponding to the Institution. The Government has historically been associated with the “mother” coat of arms of the Comunitat and since 1984 it has been used as a neutral and objective seal of officialdom.

The technical updates of the coat of arms have considered digital needs and reproduction on different materials.

The graphic design work to update the government’s identity has been carried out by designers with recognised experience in the field and has been adjusted to market prices.

This recovery will be formalised in a new digital Corporate Identity Manual with all the necessary templates for administrative texts and other corporate identifications when the existing material needs to be renewed. The official change and all new applications will come into force on 1 March 2024.
