The Health Service of the Balearic Islands has been awarded the prize for the best initiative in the field of cybersecurity and data protection in the health sector, as part of the XIX National Health Informatics Awards 2023, organised by the Spanish Society of Health Informatics.

An award for the best initiative in the field of cybersecurity and data protection in the healthcare sector

The director general of the Health Service, Javier Ureña, accepted the award and extended the recognition to the professionals who form part of the Subdirectorate of Transformation, Innovation and Digital Health, who have worked for the last fifteen years to guarantee the security and privacy of the information of the citizens of the Balearic Islands.

The award for the best initiative in cybersecurity and data protection recognises the work and commitment of the Balearic Islands Health Service to guaranteeing the security and privacy of the information of the citizens of the Balearic Islands, as well as guaranteeing the continuity of care and information systems.

Among the initiatives implemented by the Health Service in terms of cybersecurity, privacy and data protection, the commitment to publish the information security policy stands out, as well as the creation of security committees, certification in the National Security Scheme, leadership at the national level of the CIBERAP project (framed within the Action Plan for the Digitalisation of Primary and Community Care 2022-2023, promoted by the Ministry of Health), membership of the national network of SOC, and the specific training of more than fifteen professionals. All of this has been fundamental in guaranteeing the safety of the organism.

Along the same lines, the aim of the Health Service for 2024 is to continue improving the cybersecurity, privacy and data protection systems by promoting new measures, as well as developing a solution to measure the level of continuous risk.
