The Horeca Mallorca Trade Fair

This Thursday, the Consell de Mallorca hosted the presentation of the seventh edition of Horeca Baleares – Mallorca 2024, the leading trade fair for the hotel and catering sector, which will be held on 5, 6 and 7 February at the Illes Balears Velodrome (Palma Arena).

The event’s presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés; the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate; the commercial director of Horeca Baleares, José Luis Córcoles, and the gastronomic advisor Koldo Royo. Also present were the Deputy Mayor for Tourism and Culture of Palma City Council, Javier Bonet, and the Director General of Agri-food Quality and Local Product of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Joan Llabrés, as well as other institutional officials and representatives of the five gastronomic competitions that will be held during the event.

During his speech, president Llorenç Galmés highlighted the importance of this fair “for strategic sectors of our economy, such as the hotel and catering industry, which is why the institutional support of the Consell de Mallorca, which for the first time is collaborating with the Horeca fair, could not be missing”.

“This government team is very aware of the importance of the catering sector in our economy and its importance at national and international levels,” added the president.

For her part, the Councillor for Economic Promotion said that “this fair serves as a launching pad for the promotion of our island at the national and international level, and in which local produce plays a fundamental role in an increasingly demanding market that seeks excellence”.

“We know that the best showcase to showcase our local produce is the Mallorcan restaurant trade, which promotes the island’s gastronomy by recreating our most traditional recipes, which the chefs have modernised, always with the utmost respect for the products of our land. For this reason, the Horeca channel represents what we aspire to modernisation, professionalism and sustainability”, explained Pilar Amate during the presentation ceremony.

More than 16,000 visitors and 500 brands

On 5, 6 and 7 February, Mallorca will once again become a space where the right atmosphere will be created for professionals, exhibitors and visitors to establish business agreements, forge alliances and discover the latest innovations in the sector.

The figures back up the importance of Horeca Mallorca, an event that last year brought together 16,000 professional visitors and 500 brands in 5,000 square metres of exhibition space.

During the presentation, this year’s novelties were presented and the different representatives of the collaborating public institutions offered their vision of a fully consolidated event that is of strategic importance for the local and regional sectors, and with a marked national vocation, as more and more foreign companies are participating.

Various culinary competitions, tributes and a wide range of stands from companies in the sector form part of a project that is constantly growing and which will also be held on the islands of Ibiza and Menorca between the end of February and the end of March.
