The Conselleria de Turismo, Cultura i Esports del Govern, through the programme “Viu la cultura” of the Directorate General of Culture, resumes the cycle of didactic concerts included in the offer of the academic year 2023-2024.

After the didactic Christmas concert held in Mallorca, now 2024 begins with a show for children in Eivissa and Formentera entitled “A world of Sounds”.

Music and theatre come together in this show. Robertina, the storyteller, will accompany us on a very special journey, in which music and stories will transport us to distant cultures from the five continents. The music played with traditional instruments from different parts of the world, will make us hear sounds from Africa through the djembe drum, the krin and the kalimba; from Oceania, with the didgerido; from Asia with the shakuhachi flute, the kotsuzumi drum and the gong; from Europe with the recorder, the clarinet and the hunting horn, and from America with the bells, the pinquillo flute and the pan flute.

The collection of stories aims to contribute to the transmission of the popular culture of the different peoples of the world and to recognise features and values that are common to all of us.

Five stories from five continents are to be lived and told; therefore, students will dance, sing, participate with sound effects and be part of the action.

More than 800 students from different schools in Eivissa and Formentera will attend the show, spread over two days 25 and 26 January 2024 and two shifts per day. The director general of Culture, Ricarda Vicens, is expected to attend the shows in Eivissa and Formentera.
