The Consell de Mallorca reopens the Misericòrdia Chapel with the exhibition Natural Spaces. It is a representative sample of the natural spaces attached to the Ministry of Defense included in the Natura 2000 Network and the aim is to present the valuable diversity of flora and fauna present in the enclaves that have military use. In addition, it also highlights the defence culture, i.e., the measures carried out for the protection and conservation of the environment.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place this Tuesday, February 20, at 7 pm, and will be available until March 2, from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. On the opening day, in addition, will be held the conference “Natural areas of the Ministry of Defense in the Balearic Islands”, will be given by Jorge Moreno Perez, former director of the Cabrera National Park.

The vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, emphasizes that little by little, she is fulfilling her will to open the spaces of the Misericòrdia to the citizens: “We had the objective of turning the building into a true cultural centre and so it is being, all the rooms are full of cultural proposals and we continue working on the programming. There is a great cultural wealth in Mallorca and we want to put it in value. In addition, Roca stressed that “among many others, right now you can visit two major exhibitions at the Misericòrdia related to landscapes: Natural spaces, in the chapel, and Geodesy, in the rooms adjoining the cistern”.

It should be noted that the chapel of La Misericòrdia has been closed for two years, without any scheduled activity. It is one of the most majestic spaces of the Cultural Center and, from now on, it will be incorporated into the exhibition spaces of the building and will offer cultural proposals to the citizens.
