The Consell de Mallorca celebrates the Day of the Balearic Islands with activities throughout the morning of March 1 and will continue on March 2. The insular institution joins and collaborates with the program of the government under the slogan “Som el que estimam – Estimam el que som”.

Day 1 will begin the day at 11.00 h with a meeting of giants formed by queen Esclaramunda de Foix, the king Jaime II, the king Sancho I and King Jaime III, that will receive in the door to the rest of the giants that come from all the places of Majorca.

Later, all the assistants will be able to accompany the peasants, xeremiers and the giants in a parade that will start in the Consell de Mallorca and will pass by the city with samples of ball de bot in the exit in the Major Square. The Misericordia Cultural Center will host those present to enjoy the last performance of ball de bot and folk dances, in addition to the invitation to a meal.

Likewise, the Consell de Mallorca will open the Palau del Consell, the headquarters of the presidency, so that Mallorcans can tour its rooms with a free guided tour every hour on March 1. In the same way, the Palau will become the stage for a dramatized route Feliços per sempre? organized by the company Ovnipresents, which represents the story of two officials of the institution who discovered love between paperwork and bureaucracy, and have decided to celebrate their chaotic wedding in Palau.

For this activity, aimed at all audiences, has established a schedule with two passes each day:

March 1: 5.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m.
March 2: 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
In addition, the Raixa estate will host free of charge to those who come and want to discover it on their own, from 10.00 h to 15.00 h, during the two days (March 1 and 2).

The insular director of coordination, Sandra Morell, has highlighted the importance of the institution “celebrating the festivity of the day of our islands by bringing families together with activities that they can all enjoy together and that bring the institution even closer to the Mallorcans”.
