Majorca bets on responsible tourism and a gastronomic event at ITB

Mallorca will once again be present at the next edition of the ITB in Berlin, which will begin on March 5 with a full agenda of actions and meetings in which the strategic lines of tourism promotion and management, led by the Consell de Mallorca, will be prioritized.
The implementation of new initiatives in favour of responsible tourism, within the pledge presented months ago, the gastronomic product and the promotion of Mallorca as a first-class audiovisual scenario are the main thematic areas being worked on for the presence of the island in this international tourism fair in Berlin.

Responsible tourism and a gastronomic event at ITB


The institutional delegation will be led by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, together with the First Vice President and Councilor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca, the Councilor of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez and the Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, Susanna Sciacovelli, among other authorities.

Agenda
The agenda of the representatives in Mallorca will begin on March 4 with the presence of President Galmés, Councilor Rodríguez and Director Sciacovelli in a meeting with representatives of the Government with the German tour operator TUI at its headquarters in the German capital.
Subsequently, on the 5th, the first day of the fair, the presentation to the German market of Mallorca Preservation’s support for Mallorca’s Responsible Tourism Commitment (Pledge) promoted by the Consell de Mallorca will take place to continue advancing in policies directed along these lines.
Mallorca Preservation, founded in 2017, is one of the island’s best-known entities for the preservation of Mallorca’s natural beauty and environmental excellence, with a vision aimed at creating a sustainable future for the island, where the natural environment is protected and where the local community thrives in harmony with the environment, objectives perfectly aligned with those of the Consell’s Tourism department.

On Wednesday, March 6th, as a result of the joint work with other institutions in favour of the Pledge and responsible tourism policies for Mallorca, a joint initiative will be presented with the City Council of Palma that will revolve around this issue.
At the same time, that same day the Consell delegation will hold several meetings with the main tour operators travelling to Berlin, including RTK, Alltours, FTI Touristik or Schauinsland, where they will be able to learn first-hand about the situation of the German market for Mallorca next season.
And finally, a promotional event for Wednesday 6: Mallorca in essence, ITB Berlin edition. This is the creation of a networking space around a dinner attended by the main representatives of the tourism and business sector. Also, there will be the presence of profiles of prescriptive character to generate a promotional space through which we want to project a Mallorca respectful of its environment and a benchmark of quality.
The event will take place at the KaDeWe in Berlin and will be attended by the Austrian actor, Julian Looman, star of the series broadcast on Netflix, Mallorca Files. In addition, during the evening he is expected to give a few words to the attendees about his experience of filming in Mallorca.

The dinner will be in charge of the Mallorcan chef and Michelin star, Santi Taura, which will be offered to more than 150 diners in total who will be able to taste first-hand dishes made with Mallorcan products and taste wines from the island.
In addition to this program of actions, the Mallorcan delegation will develop a full agenda of meetings and meetings with representatives of the international trade that these days congregate in Berlin.
