In a series of meetings held today at ITB Berlin

The second day of the Balearic Islands’ presence at the International Tourismus Börse (ITB) in Berlin was devoted to working meetings with the main tour operators in the German market. The meetings have served to learn first-hand how the tourist season is presented for the main outbound market of the Balearic Islands.

The extension of the tourist season in the Balearics

FTI Touristik, AllTours and Der Touristik, as well as TUI, were the companies to which the President of the Government, Marga Prohens, explained the Balearic Islands’ new tourism strategies.

In the words of Prohens, these were “very productive meetings, in which the operators thanked the government and the private sector for having a shared strategy and work plan”.

All of them have confirmed that the lengthening of the tourist season “will not be a one-off event, but will be consolidated and will continue to grow”.

The German public, said President Prohens, “demands alternative activities during their holidays, especially cultural and sporting activities”, and is a “demanding market in terms of sustainability”. In this sense, they have thanked the Balearic government for the change of strategy in terms of the management of the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), focused largely on improving the water cycle, mitigating the effects of climate change, the professional excellence plan and the commitment to renewable energies.
