The concert series with the show “Un paseo por el jazz”

The Miranda Jazz Quartet, made up of guitar, voice, tenor sax, double bass and drums, offers an educational concert whose main objective is to show the origins and evolution of the well-known musical style of jazz. Ragtime, New Orleans style, Chicago style, swing, be-bop, cool, Latin jazz and other jazz trends will be the common thread of this show, which will be performed on Tuesday the 19th in Mallorca, Thursday the 21st in Ibiza and Friday the 22nd in Formentera.

On Tuesday the 19th of March the Auditorium of the Palma Conservatory of Music will kick off the series with two sessions, at 10:00 am and 11:30 am, where over 650 students from different schools on Mallorca are expected to attend, as well as the Director General of Culture, Ricarda Margarita Vicens Schluhe, at the 10:00 am session.

On Thursday the 21st of March the didactic concert will be held in Ibiza at the Can Ventosa Cultural Space, also in two sessions, at 10:00 am and 11:30 am, where more than 400 students are expected to attend, and on Friday the 22nd of March in Formentera, at the Sala Municipal de San Francisco at 10:00 am, where the number of students is expected to be 170.

But not everything will be jazz. There will also be a special mention of the blues, as it is considered the beginning of modern music and, consequently, of jazz, and will not be left out of the explanation of the main musical instruments used, with special reference to the saxophone, symbolic instrument of the genre, and the electric guitar.

On the contrary, jazz does not shy away from new technologies and new musical trends: it takes advantage of them and creates current styles as well known as acid jazz or techno jazz, which can also be listened to.

In addition, throughout the concert, representative images of the history of jazz will be projected, which will help to better understand the explanations and music that will be played live.

The concert is aimed at students in the 5th and 6th grades of primary school, ESO and Bachillerato and lasts approximately 50 minutes.
