The Consell de Mallorca allocates 1,200,000 euros to the promotion of youth policies at the local level with the award of a biannual grant distributed proportionally between 2023 and 2024, 600,000 each year. This was announced this morning by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, together with the president of the FELIB, Jaume Ferriol, the councillor of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, and the island’s director of Youth, Alícia Vinaixa, at the signing of the collaboration agreement with the 38 town councils.

Specifically, the municipalities that have applied for aid to promote youth policies at the local level are Algaida, Artà, Binissalem, Búger, Campanet, Capdepera, Consell, Costitx, Deià, Esporles, Fornalutx, Inca, Lloseta, Llubí, Llucmajor, Manacor, Mancor de la Vall, Maria de la Salut, Marratxí, Montuïri, Muro, the smaller local entity of Palmanyola, Pollença, Puigpunyent, Petra, Porreres, Sa Pobla, Sant Joan, Santa Eugènia, Santa Margalida, Santa Maria Del Camí, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Selva, Sencelles, Sineu, Sóller, Son Servera and Vilafranca de Bonany.

The multi-annual subsidy is divided into two lines of action. On the one hand, the first line is aimed at town councils with a population of less than 20,000 inhabitants and the local authority of Palmanyola. The second line is for those with a higher number up to a maximum of 52,000 inhabitants.

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, stressed the importance of “collaborating with the town councils from the insular institution so that they have the necessary resources and can carry out the initiatives they propose”. Llorenç Galmés explained that “we must promote policies that allow young people to train and take an active part in all areas”.

Specifically, the aid is aimed at subsidising information, dynamisation and training activities, the acquisition of inventoriable goods or investment in the improvement of youth information centres and centres, the hiring of young people and the development of the local youth plan.

Thirty-nine applications were presented for the call for applications, of which, after the resignation of one municipality, 38 were granted among the town councils and the minor local entity of Palmanyola that met the requirements demanded in the bases.
