This summer in two intensive English language immersion courses in Ireland

The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities, through the Directorate General for Vocational Training and Educational Organisation, has published in the BOIB the call for applications for grants so that students and teachers of intermediate-level training cycles associated with the teaching of Foreign Language Reinforcement Plans at publicly funded educational centres in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands can participate free of charge in two intensive English language immersion courses in Ireland this summer.

The call for applications provides for a minimum of 80 grants for students and a minimum of 24 grants for teachers at 27 public schools and 4 subsidised schools in the Balearic Islands. The recipients of the grants are, on the one hand, students who in the 2023-2024 school year are enrolled in intermediate-level training courses associated with the teaching of the Foreign Language Reinforcement Plans (modality A) and, on the other hand, teachers who in the 2023-2024 school year will be teaching a group in an intermediate-level training course associated with the Foreign Language Reinforcement Plans (modality B).

The placements are completely free of charge and the beneficiary students will receive between 60 and 75 teaching hours of English, while the teachers will receive between 40 and 50 hours. The two courses, lasting two weeks for the teachers and three weeks for the students, will take place in Ireland between 1 July and 15 September 2024 (modality A) and between 1 July and 31 August 2024 (modality B).

The aim of this call is to reinforce the linguistic competence of both students and teachers. In fact, one of the priority objectives of the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities is to promote the teaching and learning of foreign languages in its education system in order to improve the communicative competence in foreign languages of students in the Balearic Islands.

The deadline for submitting applications is 19 April 2024.
