President Galmés presents the first Mallorca Walking against Cancer Circuit

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, has presented the first Circuit Mallorca en Marcha contra el Càncer. Solidarity Marches of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, in which seventeen municipalities of the island will participate and which will bring together people for a common cause: the fight against this disease and the promotion of healthy habits to prevent it.

President Galmés stressed the importance of these cancer walks in Mallorca and encouraged people to take part “to walk together to raise awareness and raise the profile of the fight against this disease”. It is a fight suffered by thousands of people and their families, and “thanks to the work of organisations such as the Spanish Cancer Association, they are not fighting alone”.

The presentation ceremony, held in La Misericordia, was attended by the president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Balearic Islands, José Reyes, and municipal representatives of the councils and presidents of the local boards of the Association of the seventeen municipalities that this year will participate in the circuit.

The first march will be held this Sunday, 14th April, in Marratxí. Montuïri, Campos, Artà, Alcúdia, Llucmajor, Inca, Sóller, Alaró, S’Arenal, Palma, Lloseta, Petra, Muro, Calvià and Andratx will be the other municipalities where these walks will be held until November.

On the other hand, on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day, on the 27th of October Palma will be dyed pink with the celebration of the Mallorca en Marcha, the largest event that will bring together all the municipalities of the island to join forces against this disease.
