Gold medal and three bronze medals for VET students participating in the Spainskills in Madrid

\ Erik Martin in cooking, Alex Montosa in network systems administration and Julian Leonardo in service and catering have won third place.

The final of the Spainskills held today at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid, left a gold medal and three bronze medals for the Balearic Islands. The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities congratulates the 18 Vocational Training students who participated in these Spainskills and especially the four winners.

VET students participating in the Spainskills in Madrid

Laura Capó Rodríguez from IES Mossèn Alcover in Manacor won gold in the social and health care category. In addition, Erik Martin Fidelaires, student of CIFP Juníper Serra de Palma has obtained the third position in cooking, and Alex Montosa Petri, from CIFP Politécnico de Llevant (Manacor) has also won the bronze in the modality of network systems administration. Julian Leonardo Quiroga, from CIFP Juníper Serra, also won third place in restaurant and bar service.

The objectives of this competition are to promote and disseminate vocational training, to encourage vocational training studies, to stimulate and motivate students, to recognise and highlight the work and dedication of teachers and to strengthen relations between the business world and the world of education.

The winners of the Spainskills will represent Spain at the Worldskills to be held in September in Lyon and at the Euroskills to be held in the Danish city of Herning in 2025.

The Director General of Vocational Training and Educational Organisation, Maria Isabel Salas, who was present at the Spainskills final, wanted to highlight the good performance of the 18 island students present at this year’s edition of the Spainskills.

Salas also wanted to highlight the efforts of the students, their families and the educational community as well as the staff of the Regional Ministry itself, who make it possible for vocational training students to take part in this competition.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities reiterates its commitment to vocational training and to giving it a boost for the coming school years.
