Earmarks 75,000 euros to consolidate land stewardship projects

The Serra de Tramuntana Consortium announces financial aid for non-profit organisations that preserve the landscape values of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The Consell de Mallorca, through the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium, has announced the annual financial aid for non-profit organisations that work to preserve the landscape values of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.

The grant is worth 75,000 euros, to consolidate active projects that preserve the natural, heritage and landscape values of the Serra de Tramuntana. The grants are aimed at non-profit organisations whose statutory objectives include land stewardship. They can present, among others, actions for the maintenance of estates, such as the cleaning of paths or the repair of ethnological elements; volunteer activities or initiatives to raise awareness of good practices in the mountains. The maximum amount eligible for subsidies is 10,000 euros per project, and the deadline for submitting applications is 13 May.

The Serra de Tramuntana island director, Antoni Solivellas, assures that “the financial endowment of these grants demonstrates the Consortium’s commitment to collaborating with entities that manage estates of great natural and heritage value.

Land stewardship is based on facilitating voluntary initiatives for the conservation of nature, landscape and cultural heritage on private and public estates, with the long-term objective of managing the territory sustainably and responsibly. With this call for proposals, the Consortium is consolidating its position as a point of reference for organisations and landowners working to conserve the cultural landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana.
