Thirty VET teachers in Mallorca learn about the applications of artificial intelligence

From yesterday until Friday the 19th, some thirty vocational training teachers in the field of tourism from different schools throughout Spain are taking part in the conference “Disruptive technologies in tourism training” organised by the Juníper Serra integrated vocational training centre (CIFP) in Palma with the collaboration of the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities.

The conference, which is being held at the INNSiDE Palma Center hotel, was inaugurated yesterday morning by the Director General of Vocational Training and Educational Planning, Maria Isabel Salas, and the director of the CIFP Juníper Serra, Manel Aragonés. In this regard, the director general stressed the need for professionals trained in new areas and digital skills such as the management of digital tourism experiences, new tourism marketing tools, the possibilities of artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, multichannel customer service and efficient resource management.

Over these days, attendees will learn about and work first-hand on topics such as the applications of artificial intelligence in the classroom, the evolution of the web, blockchain and disruptive technologies applied to tourism destinations. They will also be able to listen to top-level speakers, such as Jimmy Pons, creator of the BlueBay Living Lab Hotel innovation lab and co-founder of the digital marketing management tool NFT Management System; Miquel Flexas, trainer of the IA Education International Observatory and Project Director of the Maecenas Education Foundation, and Andreu Florit and Diana Galán, from the virtual and augmented reality company REM Experience.

Centre of excellence in tourism

The CIFP Juníper Serra is from 2022 centre of excellence in tourism. Together with CIFP Pau Casesnoves (Inca), specialising in renewable energies, and CIFP Francesc de Borja Moll (Palma), specialising in health, it forms part of the State Network of Vocational Training Centres of Excellence of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport and is responsible for boosting innovation and training within its sector.

These conferences are funded by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport and by the European Union-Next GenerationEU, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Facility.
