The Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats sets up the University Coordination Board

This consultative, advisory and coordinating body for institutions with university responsibilities has not been convened for the last eight years.

The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities today constituted the University Coordination Board, as established by Law 2/2003 of 20 March, on the institutional organisation of the university system of the Balearic Islands.

The University Coordination Board of the Balearic Islands, which had not been convened in the last eight years, is the body for consultation, advice and coordination between the different bodies and institutions with university competences; it has a deliberative and informative character, and is attached to the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats of the Govern de les Illes Balears, which is the competent ministry in matters of university.

The board is made up of the Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, as president; the rector of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Jaume Carot; the director general of Universities and Higher Artistic Education, Sebastià Massanet; the regional secretary of Innovation and Digital Society, Antonio Carmona; a member appointed by the Government, Bartomeu Alcover; the members appointed by the UIB, Antoni Bordoy, Yolanda González and Mauricio Mus, and the secretary Olga Uría.

During today’s meeting, the attendees assessed the draft decree regulating the legal and remuneration system for teaching and research staff employed by the University of the Balearic Islands and amending Decree 178/2003, of 31 October, which regulates the procedure for obtaining the evaluation and accreditation of the University Quality Agency of the Balearic Islands.
