The increase in the budget concerning previous editions is intended to dignify the artistic work of the island’s youth, as well as to stimulate creation.

“From object to life

The slogan of the new edition, “From object to life”, as well as the design of the campaign are the proposal of the winner of last year’s Art Jove Graphic Design Competition, José Antonio Thomas Herrero, who wanted to refer to the use of the object as a means or purpose in the world of art.

The registration period closes on 27 May.

This year’s competitions are as follows:

  • Visual Arts Competition, worth 13,000 euros.
  • Comic Competition, worth 8,000 euros.
  • Contemporary Dance Competition, worth 8,000 euros.
  • Short Film Competition, with a prize of 13,000 euros.
  • Short Story Competition, with a prize of 5,000 euros.
  • Music Competition for Young Performers, in the modality of chamber groups, endowed with 8,000 euros.
  • Fashion Design Competition, endowed with 12,000 euros.
  • Product Design Competition, endowed with 8,000 euros.

To facilitate registration, the IBJOVE has implemented a more flexible model, with an additional deadline for submitting proposals to the competition, and an increase in the percentage of substitutions of members of a group that is entering the competition.

The main objectives of the initiative include promoting young Balearic creators and their works, helping participants to become more professional and supporting their first steps in the cultural sector or industry of interest to them.

The Art Jove Cultural Programme is complemented by the itinerant GirArt Jove, which promotes different activities throughout the islands and in the Part Forana of Mallorca.
