President Galmés congratulates the Mallorcan driver Cristina Velasco
President Galmés wanted to congratulate first hand the Mallorcan driver Cristina Velasco, who will represent the Balearic Islands for the first time in the European Ladies Amateur Championship, to be held in Malta next Sunday, 28 April.
During the meeting at the Son Pardo racecourse, President Galmés wished Velasco the best of luck in the European Championship, in which she will compete in four races. ‘We are proud that Cristina Velasco, with more than 950 races in her career, will fight for the title this Sunday with such important European riders as Elena Villani, Hiltje Tjalsma or Beatrice Demoulin. This shows that trotting is a sport that is deeply rooted on our island, which not only has a magnificent fan base but also horses and riders of an excellent level, with international relevance and which promote Mallorca from a sporting and tourist point of view’.
Also present at the meeting were the president of the Mallorca Equestrian Sports Institute, Gaspar Oliver; the president of the Balearic Trotting Federation, Joan Llabata, and the president of the Amateur Club, Maria Francisca Sureda.
