Will allocate 350,000 euros for the remainder of 2023 to promote tourism synergies with municipalities

The Consell de Mallorca’s Department of Tourism will allocate more than 350,000 euros, from the 2023 treasury surplus, to promote tourism synergies with the island’s municipalities, improve the postal communications of the Tourist Management service and, finally, facilitate the work of Calvià Town Council in complying with the decree against excessive tourism.
Specifically, through the island’s Tourism Directorate for Governance and Sustainability, headed by Pedro Mas, some 350,000 euros will be allocated to strengthen relations and promote joint initiatives with the town councils of Mallorca. The aim is to involve all the island’s municipalities and to highlight the value of everything that is done by the town councils, all to improve the island’s coexistence within a framework of sustainable development of tourist activity”.

Since the beginning of the legislature, the Department of Tourism, headed by the councillor José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, has been trying to help, listen and get to know all their needs with the aim of making progress in achieving common tourism objectives. All of this to deepen the knowledge of the different realities of tourism activity in each territory and thus better analyse their needs.
At the same time, the surplus funds will also be used to meet the increased expenditure on postal communications resulting from the increase in inspection activity in the Tourism Management Department. Specifically, some 8,000 euros will be earmarked for this increase in communications, as a result of the comprehensive plan launched in October last year against illegal supply in the tourism sector.
Finally, 13,965 euros will also be allocated to facilitate the work of the Calvià Town Hall in complying with the decree against excessive tourism.
