Accompanied by the Director General of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, Fernando Fernández, and representatives of the Agricultural Cooperatives of Porreres, Sóller and Inca, as well as the manager of Camp Mallorquí, Aldo Castellí, Calafat learned first-hand about the operations and challenges of this crucial project.

During the visit, those present explained to Calafat the specific needs of the agricultural sector and the importance of promoting projects to improve the quality of treated water. In addition, they also requested that the concession procedures be speeded up to meet the needs of the countryside.

The water reservoir visited, with a capacity of 90,000 m³, plays a key role in supplying the irrigation community. This infrastructure is an example of how the reuse of treated water can be successfully integrated into agricultural management practices, offering sustainable solutions for irrigation in the context of climate change and scarcity of water resources.

Joan Calafat reaffirmed the Govern de les Illes Balears’ commitment to working together with farmers to implement effective solutions that enable the region to meet current and future water challenges.
