The launch of the new application coincides with the start of the booking campaign for the summer season.

Ports IB, the public company managing the autonomous ports, has launched a new platform designed to improve the experience of booking buoy fields and transit moorings in directly managed ports. This new tool integrates, for the first time, both services in a single application, facilitating a simpler, more practical and agile booking system.

The platform https://reservas.portsib.es/reservas/es/ offers an integrated system for booking both Life Posidonia Project buoys and moorings, covering the moorings of the 14 directly managed ports and the eight ecological buoy fields on the islands. Each buoy, individually numbered, includes a QR code to facilitate direct access to the platform, a change designed to simplify the process for users.

In addition, it is a more dynamic and visual platform for mobile and tablet devices and is compatible with a wider range of browsers. It also offers greater security in access by adding a double authentication factor in compliance with Royal Decree 311/2022 of 3 May.

The purpose of the buoy fields is to protect Posidonia oceanica by providing low-impact anchoring. Thus, during 2024, the same eight buoy fields will be managed as in the previous year, with a total of 264 buoys available for online booking. The service will be provided in the following mooring fields, distributed by islands:

MALLORCA

Sant Elm
Cap Blanc – Cala Blava
Formentor
MENORCA

Badia Fornells
Illa d’En Colom – Tamarells Cove
EIVISSA AND FORMENTERA

Platja de Ses Salines
Badia de s’Alga – S’Espalmador
Es Caló de s’Oli
Users of the platform can choose from several types of vouchers to suit different needs and schedules:

- Bono Baño: Available in morning (from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm) and afternoon (from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm), ideal for those looking to enjoy a short period in the water.
- Day Pass: Valid from 10:00 to 18:00, perfect for a full day at sea.
- Overnight Pass: Allows continuous use from 18:30 on the day of entry until 18:00 the following day, with a maximum of three consecutive days. After use, you must wait four days to be able to book again in the same field.

In addition to the reservation of buoys and moorings, a skipper service will be available in each buoy field, available from midday until 20.00 hours, to facilitate mooring at the reserved buoy. There will also be a customer service line with a specific telephone number and a new function for incidents or queries, available to registered users from Monday to Sunday.

Improvements for users

The registration process for new users has been simplified. Users can now directly perform more actions such as: extending the days of the initial booking, modifying the dates and/or facility booked, and cancelling a booking. When booking in a buoy field, the buoy field can be displayed, information about each buoy can be obtained and the preferred buoy can be selected from the available buoys. When booking in a port, the most suitable mooring for the characteristics of the boat (length, beam and draught) is automatically assigned among all those available. In addition, the management of incidents and queries is facilitated from the user's account, allowing direct and more personalised contact with the user service.

Improvements for rental boats

The registration of rental boats on the platform has also been simplified. Rental companies will have an authorised user to centrally register all the boats in their fleet. These companies will provide their customers with the unique code generated by the application for each rental boat. By entering this code, users of the application will be able to make reservations directly without having to provide documentation of the boat or wait for validation by PortsIB staff.

The platform will accept bookings from 1 June to 30 September. Based on demand, the period could be extended until 15 October. Prices remain the same as in 2023 and are determined by the maximum length of the vessel.

With this new platform, PortsIB reinforces its commitment to efficient and sustainable management of maritime resources, improving access to and administration of nautical facilities in the Balearics and promoting anchoring practices that respect the marine environment.
