The Govern adopts urgent measures to guarantee the water supply in Banyalbufar

Given the emergency that Banyalbufar is experiencing due to the water supply cuts, this working meeting was held to plan a solution to ensure the continuity of the service. During the meeting, several urgent measures were analysed and defined, which will have the full support of the Directorate General of Water Resources and which will be added to those already taken by the Town Hall to avoid the supply cuts announced due to the lack of water.

Among the actions taken, urgent authorisation will be given for the construction of a new catchment well and improvements will be made to the treatment and filtration facilities for the water collected, thus improving the quality and continuity of the drinking water supply.

These initiatives complement the measures already implemented by the Regional Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle and the Town Hall, such as the water supply by means of tanker trucks from the Son Pacs facilities, which have been covering the immediate needs of the population and the catering establishments in Banyalbufar.

In the long term, the Government has allocated a total of 20 million euros to all the municipalities of the Balearic Islands to improve the efficiency of the distribution networks, ensuring a more rational and efficient use of water resources.

The Government’s commitment to Banyalbufar and other municipalities affected by the drought is firm and ongoing. It is working together with local authorities and private entities to mitigate the negative effects of this situation and ensure the well-being of the population.
