The new tourism management model restructures attendance at trade fairs and incorporates the presence at one of the main technological events: the Mobile Global Congress in Barcelona.

The Fundació Mallorca Turisme held a new Advisory Board meeting on Thursday to present the main lines of action for tourism management proposed for 2025, and to gather the contributions and assessments of its members, as a consulting body of the Foundation.
One of the main novelties is that the new tourism management model will promote Mallorca’s technological capacity. These actions are based on responsible tourism, contributing to the diversification of the economy, favouring better management of tourist flows, opening up to markets of a depersonalising nature and managing coexistence.

Mallorca to promote its technological capacity applied to responsible tourism in 2025

On the other hand, the presence of this type of promotional event has been readjusted. Thus, in 2025 the FMT will be present at a total of 11 fairs, of which three are held in Germany, three in Spain, one in the United Kingdom, two in France, one in Monaco and one in Dubai. In addition to technology, in 2025, work will be carried out on particularly diversifying products such as gastronomy, nautical and MICE.
In this regard, the presence at one of the most important international meetings in the technology field, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, stands out.
This new line of action aims to combine Mallorca’s expertise in tourism promotion with the island’s great potential in the field of technology. “Mallorca is in a more than ideal position to consolidate itself as a technological benchmark, both in terms of the level of the companies based on the island and its potential as a location for new projects,” said the Minister of Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz.

“Technology plays a crucial role in the development and sustainability of the island, as well as for its consolidation as a responsible tourist destination. It also represents an opportunity for Mallorca to become a benchmark territory in the Mediterranean in terms of the development of the technology industry”, as the island’s director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, Susanna Sciacovelli, has already commented.
“The aim is to generate alternative or complementary activities to tourism, promote entrepreneurship and generate valuable employment in an environment that does not require a high consumption of resources or territory”.
The strategy is a faithful reflection of the Pledge- Commitment to Responsible Tourism presented in November 2023 and is already materialising with specific actions such as these latest proposed promotional lines.
List of fairs to be attended by Mallorca in 2024
The approved list of fairs is as follows: the three that will be held in Spain are the MWC in Barcelona, the international general tourism fair, Fitur, and the gastronomic product fair, in Madrid Fusión.
In the German market, participation will be at the Fespo Golfmesse, specialising in the sport of golf, and at the general trade fair and one of those with the greatest international impact, ITB Berlin. Mallorca will also be present at IMEX in Frankfurt, which brings together the leading business travel and MICE products.

As for France, the two events in which Mallorca will participate will be Destination Nature, for active and nature tourism, and the ILTM in Cannes, for luxury products. Mallorca will also have a space at the Monaco Boat Show, specialising in the nautical sector. As for the United Kingdom, our island will be present at one of the most important international trade fairs in the world and the main one in the UK, the World Travel Market. And to continue analysing the emerging market of the United Arab Emirates, there will be a presence at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.
Direct actions with opinion leaders and in emerging markets
Mallorca’s strategy will continue to include other types of actions of a more specific nature, focused on working with markets and products with interlocutors of high prescriptive and professional value, capable of contributing to the consolidation of a balanced and responsible tourism industry.
Thus, we will continue to participate in conferences in collaboration with Turespaña and in particularly emerging markets such as the United States, Asia, America and the Middle East.
Likewise, press and fam trips will be organised, focusing on the most appropriate products and markets to promote the objectives set.
