The president has sent out a message of calm and assures that she will continue with the only road map of the government programme endorsed by the ballot boxes.

The President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Margalida Prohens, made an extraordinary appearance this Friday, after the Consell de Govern, to give explanations following Vox’s unilateral decision to break the agreements with the Government. “Once these agreements have been broken, the Government of the Balearic Islands will continue to work with the only road map of our government programme endorsed by the ballot boxes,” she said. The President insisted that “the Government will continue to work and respond to the trust that the citizens of the Balearic Islands placed in it a year ago”.

Prohens added that with Vox’s decision, “I no longer have any commitment to the pending points of the 110 agreements that do not appear in the government programme; only to the 500 points of our government programme”.

In this sense, the President assured that “I take it for granted that Vox’s decision to break the agreements also implies their renunciation of the presidency of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands obtained as a result of these agreements that they have now broken”.

The President reviewed all the initiatives that the Government of the Balearic Islands has approved over the last year. “We have done so with a solitary, stable government and with a great deal of work, also with parliamentary negotiation so that all these measures were approved in the Parliament of the Balearic Islands,” she said.

“As I have shown this year, receiving and listening to entities and organisations from all walks of life, being out on the streets in all municipalities, whatever their colour, and always respecting and listening to those who disagree with and criticise the Government, I am the President of all the citizens of the Balearic Islands”, she insisted. “We will continue to govern with the management, calm, moderation and freedom for which the citizens of the Balearic Islands gave us their trust,” she concluded.
