From September 2024 to June 2025 the pilot test will be launched with 16 places available for young students or teachers travelling to Menorca.

The Department of Culture, Education, Youth and Sports presented this Friday, 2nd August, the project that will allow the Sa Vinyeta summer camp house to be combined with Menorca’s first youth residence.

The target audience will be young people who for student reasons or work are forced to stay temporarily away from their family home, making it possible for people over the age of 30 to stay when they are part of the educational community. Initially, the forecast is from September 2024 to June 2025 and 16 places are offered: 8 single rooms and 4 double rooms.

Depending on this pilot test this year 2024-2025, the number of places could be increased by acquiring small wooden buildings that will allow more students to be accommodated in a space even more suited to their needs and free up the places in the hostel that will be occupied this academic year.

For those interested, the accommodation regime varies depending on the chosen stay. For stays longer than 8 months, bed and breakfast in a single room is €332.42 per month, while half board is €510.92 and full board is €586.01 per month. In a double room, the price goes down, and bed and breakfast is € 265,94, half board is € 444,44 and full board is € 529,50.

For stays between 2 and 8 months, with a single room, bed and breakfast is 369,36€, half board 547,86€ and full board 653,72€. With a shared room, bed and breakfast is reduced to € 295.49, half board to € 473.99 and full board to € 587.24. In addition, the general rate for visitors, friends and stays of less than 2 months is €12.96 per day for bed and breakfast, €21.46 for half board and €29.96 for full board, all for people up to the age of 30. From the age of 31, it will be €16.85, €25.35 and €33.85 respectively.

The Sa Vinyeta space is located in the municipality of Ciutadella, about 10 minutes walk from the port, 15 minutes from the centre and about 7 minutes from the small beach of Sa Farola, as well as easy access to supermarkets, laundries, hardware stores, pharmacies and city bus stops in the vicinity.

“The Sa Vinyeta Youth Residence will make it possible to keep a public facility open all year round, making the most of the possibilities and resources it offers, as well as providing an affordable accommodation alternative for young people for work or training purposes. Furthermore, there is great interest from the UIB to create a university community and increase the number of students registered outside Menorca who enrol at the university,” says the Councillor for Culture, Education, Youth and Sports, Joan Pons Torres.

The rooms will have a chair, desk, corkboard for notes, study light, armchair, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bathroom furniture, duvet, duvet cover and blanket. In addition, there will be a Wi-Fi network, air conditioning and heating, weekly room cleaning, breakfast seven days a week, half board or full board from Monday to Friday, except for holiday periods and public holidays, and in the case of stays of more than two months, bed linen and towels changed weekly.

Places can be reserved by sending an email to gerencia@injovemenorca.com and attaching the corresponding place reservation form, which can be found at this link. For the first 2024-2025 course, places will be allocated in order of application. Once you have received confirmation of your place allocation, you will have 15 days to pay the amount corresponding to the corresponding deposit, which will be detailed in the e-mail received. If, after these 15 days, payment has not been made, it will be understood that the interested party has withdrawn and the place will be offered to the first person on the waiting list.
