Bologna FC 1909 won the Trofeu Ciutat de Palma after an evenly contested match that was decided by a penalty shoot-out (5-6) following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes. The day also served as a presentation of RCD Mallorca’s first team squad, who took to the pitch at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix accompanied by the club’s veteran ex-players.

Jagoba Arrasate had Leo Román, Mateu Jaume, José Copete, Antonio Raíllo, Johan Mojica, Samu Costa, Sergi Darder, Manu Morlanes, Takuma Asano, Abdón Prats and Cyle Larin on the pitch.

After a good start to the game with more possession than arrivals, the team took the lead with a goal from Asano, from a pass filtered through by Sergi Darder, who with a little touch over the goalkeeper made it 1-0 in the 9th minute.

The minutes passed and the team dominated possession. But in the 25th minute, after a great move down the flank, Castro sent the ball into the back of Román’s net to level the score at 1-1.

The Italian goal spurred the team on to try to make it 2-1. Bologna was heading steadily towards the break without Bologna reaching Leo’s goal. Almost in the 45th minute, a cross from Darder went wide of the target. With that chance, the game reached half-time. A first half marked by equality and a lack of chances on both sides.

At the start of the second half, the coach changed the starting eleven completely and Dominik Greif, Pablo Maffeo, Martin Valjent, Siebe Van Der Heyden, Toni Lato, Omar Mascarell, Dani Rodríguez, Daniel Luna, Marc Domènech and Vedat Muriqi came on.

In the 48th minute, Domnech had a clear chance to break the deadlock but did not find the net. The minutes went by with a very even playing field. At the 70 mark, Bologna was gaining ground, but without troubling Greif’s goal.

Luna had the best chance of the second half with a good shot from the edge of the area that was well saved by the goalkeeper. In the 83rd minute, Domènech was sent off and Jan Salas came on for Mallorca.

In the 88th minute, there was a double chance for Mallorca, first from Luna and then from Sánchez, but they were unable to score against Skorupski.

With the score at 1-1, the game came to an end and the Ciutat de Palma was decided by penalties.

After a long shootout, the team that won the trophy was Bologna. With this, the pre-season comes to an end. The next game is the first matchday of La Liga against Real Madrid.
