The measure has been communicated to all heads of local police forces on the islands.

The director general of Emergencies and Interior of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Sebastià Sureda, has decreed early this afternoon the severity index 2 (IG2) of the METEOBAL plan in all the islands for rain and storms. This measure, adopted during the meeting of the technical advisory committee of the METEOBAL Special Plan, entails the prohibition of outdoor activities such as concerts and other events, intensifies the communication of Emergencies with all the means involved in the management of the current storm and reinforces the recommendations of caution to the public regarding travel or their presence by the sea.

Emergencies decree the Severity Index 2 (IG-2) and prohibit outdoor activities

The declaration of IG-2 has been communicated from the Directorate General of Interior of the Government of the Balearic Islands to the heads of all local police forces on the islands and Civil Protection. The mayors of the municipalities of the islands have also been notified of the severity index 2.

The declaration of IG2 will remain in force, in principle, until next Friday, although Emergencies will be permanently monitoring the meteorological situation in order to assess a possible de-escalation.

The DGEI has warned of the seriousness of the situation, especially during the next few hours and particularly at night, when the storm could develop into an isolated depression system at high levels (DANA).
