The initial budget of 5.8 million euros has been modified to adapt it to current market prices.
The Executive Council has given the green light to the definitive approval of the construction project for the refurbishment of the Cazadores crossroads, the intersection between the EI-200, EI-300 and EI-631 roads, which is one of the current black spots on the island ‘s road network due to the high accident rate it suffers. This definitive approval has been carried out after the modification of the prices of the initial project, budgeted at 5.8 million euros, to adapt them to current market prices, raising it to 8,693,437.14 euros.

The project for the remodelling of the Cazadores crossroads will cost more than 8.6 million euros
The Councillor for Road Infrastructures, Mariano Juan, explained that this new price assessment became necessary after the tender for this important project was declared void. ‘It is a priority project, we must be able to start it as soon as possible and I hope that this revision and updating of the material costs will encourage companies to bid for it and we will give the green light to its construction’. Juan recalled that these works have been agreed with neighbours and those affected in the area who have made concessions ‘for the common good’. ‘It is a dangerous crossroads for which, after a very rigorous technical work, the best solution was found,’ the councillor remarked.
This surface roundabout project meets the objectives of road safety, traffic capacity, cycling and pedestrian mobility and replacement of access to adjoining properties. At a technical level, it was considered that the best option for this section is the construction of a roundabout, as it is considered the best way to resolve intersections and solve the problems suffered by this junction: it moderates the speed of vehicles, increases capacity compared to other intersections, simplicity of operation and signalling, and gives the possibility of connecting several branches.
