Social Security adds nearly half a million new members in the last year

The total number of Social Security affiliates has increased by 478,241 in the last year, and by 1.81 million people since before the start of the pandemic, discounting seasonality and the calendar effect.

In the adjusted series, since the start of 2024, 324,976 jobs have been created, a figure in line with pre-pandemic levels, to stand at 21,167,912 members.

The Minister for Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, stresses that ‘the labour market maintains its highest figures ever for August. Halfway through this month, we remain close to 21.2 million employed if we discount seasonality and the calendar effect’.

In the daily series, Social Security registered 21,174,657 affiliates on 14 August. This is 6,349 more employed than at the end of July.
