The maximum amount allocated is €960 per person and finances the payment of the first 12 Social Security contributions.
The deadline for applications has not been exceeded thanks to the success of the call for applications.
The call for applications for the first year of zero quota aid for self-employed entrepreneurs, launched by the Department of Enterprise, Employment and Energy last April, has closed with a total of 1,151 applications and a budget of 1,104,960 euros. This is a success because the deadline for applications has not been reached.
The councillor Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro wanted to highlight the success of the call ‘since in less than 3 months, and before the deadline to apply, the budget has been covered. This acceptance makes us reflect on the importance of continuing along this path of supporting entrepreneurs and self-employed business people.

The call for applications for the first year of zero quota aid for self-employed entrepreneurs closes with 1,151 applications and a budget of 1,104,960 €
This first phase of the call, which covers the first year, was aimed at workers registered as self-employed from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024 (and retroactively for those registered from 1 January 2023) and was open to everyone with the requirements of being registered in any of the municipalities of the Balearic Islands, not exceed the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI), have a workplace and carry out their activity on the islands and be registered as job seekers with the SOIB (Employment Service of the Balearic Islands).
By islands, 889 applications were registered in Mallorca, 142 in Menorca, 112 in Ibiza and 8 in Formentera.
The total budget for this action was 1 million euros and the amount of aid is 80 euros for the twelve monthly payments that correspond to the RETA (Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers), which means a maximum total of 960 euros per person.
Currently, the second phase of the call for applications for the second year, with a budget of 500,000 euros, is aimed at self-employed workers registered between 1 January and 15 August 2024, is open and can be applied for until 31 August 2024.
As explained by the Director General for Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Trade, José Antonio Caldés, ‘the government has developed a very specific roadmap for this basic sector of the economic fabric. We know that there is an imported component linked to economic support, but we also have to promote advice for business people, whether they are entrepreneurs or consolidated, on other key aspects such as legal or regulatory issues. For this reason, and in close collaboration with the Balearic Regional Development Agency, we are working on a very comprehensive information tool that will function as a portal for direct contact with the self-employed’.
