These exemptions are granted based on academic or socio-economic criteria. The aim of the Conselleria de Educació i Universitats is to reward students’ efforts and prevent any student from having to abandon their studies for economic reasons. The grants will be used to cover tuition fees for official bachelor’s degree courses and university master’s degrees. These exemptions also include enrolment in Higher Artistic Education.

The requirements to be able to apply for these exemptions are, in addition to meeting the socio-economic conditions, to have Spanish nationality or nationality of a member state of the European Union, to be enrolled in a Higher Artistic Education course in the Balearic Islands, at the UIB in official undergraduate or master’s degree courses during the 2024-25 academic year, not be a beneficiary of the general grants for students studying post-compulsory studies for the 2024-25 academic year of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport and not have obtained any other official qualification of equal or higher level to that of the studies for which the grant is requested.

This measure is already being applied. At the time of enrolment, students can complete the corresponding documentation, indicating that they wish to adhere to these exemptions. Once the supporting documentation has been reviewed and, if applicable, the application has been validated, applicants will know whether they are eligible for free enrolment. While the application is being processed, students do not have to pay the registration fee in advance.
