The EMT has announced that, as of today, 4 of the 12 services that were cancelled following the fires on the engines of two 18-metre articulated buses with gas engines have been restored. The municipal transport company is confident that before the start of the school year, all the services will be back in operation, thus restoring the service in its entirety.

Last week, 12 services were cancelled for safety reasons, affecting lines A1, A2, Line 3, Line 4 and Line 7, which were operated with Scania articulated buses.

The Deputy Mayor for Mobility and President of EMT explained that ‘the overhauls of these 12 buses have already allowed us to recover 4 services, leaving us with 8 services which will be restored in the next few days’.

As for the 27 articulated buses sent for overhaul by Scania technicians with the help of a subcontractor and the support of EMT mechanics, ‘an average of two buses are being repaired every day, which means that in the next 15 days, they will all be overhauled. As vehicles become available in the workshops, they will be reinstated in service immediately,’ Deudero said.

The EMT has pointed out that the reduction in services has affected weekdays, as the same services and frequencies are maintained at weekends.
The municipal company has also insisted that users can consult the different services and frequencies through the usual systems of the website of the council and the EMT of Palma and MobiPalma applications.
