The Inca volunteer camp ended with the participation of 15 young people aged 18 to 30 from different autonomous communities

This camp, which has the collaboration of the Inca City Council, began on 19 August and, among other objectives, trains young volunteers in the design of self-managed workshops, new masculinities and gender roles, dynamics of knowledge and discovery of the environment, as well as recognising non-formal education as an engine for change.

The director of the Institut Balear de la Joventut (IBJOVE), Tomàs Amer, who visited the camp this week at the youth centre in Inca, was able to see how the participants have acquired basic skills for the dynamisation and organisation of educational leisure activities.

Five volunteer camps with 72 young people from all over Spain

The IBJOVE, part of the Regional Ministry of Families and Social Affairs, organises volunteer camps every summer aimed at young people aged 15 to 17 and 18 to 30 who want to collaborate voluntarily in the construction of a better society through activities in favour of the community, combined with free time to devote to leisure and tourism. This year’s programme has a budget of around 80.000 € and takes place in five municipalities of the Islands, apart from Inca: Santa Maria (10th to 24th July), Alaró (12th to 26th July), Calvià (4th to 18th August) and Sóller (24th August to 7th September).

In total, when the camps are over, 72 young people will have taken part, seven of them from the Islands and the other 65 from other communities. Likewise, 10 young Balearic islanders are taking part in volunteer camps abroad this summer, and 15 in other autonomous communities.
