The Consell de Mallorca pays tribute to Antònia Vaquer, runner-up of the world amateur trotting championship

The president Galmés presented a commemorative plaque to the Mallorcan rider at the reception held at the Hippodrome of Son Pardo.

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, accompanied by the second vice-president and councillor for the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, the president of the Institute of Equestrian Sport of Mallorca (IEHM), Gaspar Oliver, and the president of the Balearic Trot Federation, Joan Llabata, have received the Mallorcan rider Antònia Vaquer, who has been proclaimed runner-up in the world amateur trotting championships after three days of competition and nine races in Finland.

During the reception, held at the Son Pardo racecourse, the President of the Consell de Mallorca presented Antònia Vaquer with a commemorative plaque as a tribute for her second place in the world championship. In this sense, President Galmés pointed out that ‘it is a source of pride for Mallorca to be able to count on this world recognition achieved by the rider Antònia Vaquer in a sport that is part of our identity, of our culture, and which demonstrates, once again, the excellence of our riders’.

The councillor for the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, said that ‘for this institution and the whole of Mallorca it is a source of pride to have committed, hard-working and hard-fighting people in any field and discipline, in this case, in the world of trotting. Recognising their efforts is a way of thanking them for what they do for sport and this island.

For his part, Vaquer expressed his joy and satisfaction for the result achieved and for the tribute received from the Consell de Mallorca, assuring that this runner-up position is a dream come true.
