The workshops, which are open for registration through Gestib, are an educational tool that complements physical education classes. This year, as a novelty, the Council is introducing fencing as a sport and ‘We are aquatic’, a scuba diving workshop for the elderly. The most popular in other seasons are: ‘Sling shot’, ‘We all play’, ‘Shall we dance?’ and the nautical workshops ‘Sail at full sail’, ‘On the water with a canoe’ or the Dragon Boat activity ‘Dragons to the sea’.

Suma’t’ is a successful programme that has been consolidated in classrooms with workshops aimed at the last year of each cycle, through innovative didactic proposals, support material for teachers and sessions lasting between 90 and 120 minutes.

Minority sports, practical habits and visits from top clubs

Suma’t’ introduces a dozen or so lesser-used sports, such as slingshot shooting, canoeing, beach volleyball and sailing, through workshops based on the transmission of values. It also includes practical sessions on healthy habits that help to manage emotions and promote preventive practices associated with sports, such as mindfulness and nutrition.

This programme also includes a third line of activity, ‘Join the sport with the elite’, which offers visits to the schools of top-level professional sportsmen and women. In this area, the Council of Mallorca collaborates with the clubs Atletic de Baleares, Badminton Palma, CN Ciutat de waterpolo, Discaesports, Espanya Hoquei Club, Handbol Mallorca, Fibwi Azul Marino, Mallorca Hockey, Mallorca Palma Futsal, Palmer Basket, Shamrock Rugby Club, Voley Ciutat Cide, Voleibol Manacor and Voley Palma. This year the local futbol americà, the Mallorca Voltors and the Club de Vòlei Sóller have joined the programme.
