The jury of the sixth edition of the Doctors and Patients Awards, given by the Spanish Medical Association (OMC), has decided this year to recognise Dr Manuela García Romero, Minister of Health of the Balearic Islands, with a special career award for her work as an anaesthetist, her involvement with the medical associations and her current work at the head of the Balearic Islands Regional Ministry of Health.

The Regional Minister of Health, Manuela García, was awarded a prize by the Spanish Medical Association (OMC)

García Romero has been honoured for her involvement with doctors and patients throughout her career. Her work as a specialist in anaesthesiology, her involvement as head of the Medical Association of the Balearic Islands (COMIB) and as vice-president of the Spanish Medical Association, and now in the political sphere as the head of the Regional Ministry, completed a professional career linked to the care and defence of patients and health professionals.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, on 3 October. The sixth edition of the Doctors and Patients Awards recognises the best initiatives of professionals, institutions and associations in the field of health and the socio-health sector.
