The Regional Ministry of Education proposes the creation of a Technical Committee for 0-3 to advance in the direct management of the first cycle of early childhood education

The councillor announced that this Technical Committee will discuss the public management of 0-3-year-old education. This is a long-term measure that aims for the Regional Ministry to directly manage the public nursery schools, which currently depend on the local councils.

The Mesa Tècnica will also deal with the agreement of places and the model of agreement with private nursery schools, and the possibility of negotiating a collective agreement for nursery school technicians in the Balearic Islands that could alleviate the problems of this sector will be put on the table.

Councillor Vera explained that it is not up to the Balearic government to sign a collective agreement, but the intention is to act as mediator between the employers and the unions.

After having made the first cycle of nursery education free of charge for all grades during the previous school year, the Conselleria is working to increase the number of places for 0-3-year-olds. In fact, 299 new places have recently been created and the extraordinary enrolment process for these places will begin on Monday 9 September and will run until Monday 16 September. In addition, for this academic year 2024/2025, the Regional Ministry has managed directly and for the first time the schooling of 0 to 3-year-olds.

With this roundtable, the Regional Ministry puts an end to the roundtables that have been held this week to prepare for the start of the school year next Wednesday, 11 September.
