The Balearic Office for Childhood and Adolescence (OBIA) carried out a total of 110 actions during 2023, half of which (57) involved the opening of a file related to the possible infringement of the rights of the minor. The rest were consultations that were resolved without the opening of proceedings. These data are taken from the OBIA Report for 2023. By origin, 91% of the cases were in Mallorca, 6% in Eivissa and 1% in Menorca.

According to the type of activity, the majority (60%) were for information and guidance, while 20% were complaints and denunciations.

Using contact, 46% of the actions came by telephone and 10% were ex officio actions of the OBIA. The majority of contacts were initiated by a professional (59%) and practically the rest by a family member. One-third of the cases were closed by resolution of the complaints and 22% were referred to other institutions.

With regard to the areas of action, the majority were related to operation (32%). The rest were for social integration and legal protection of minors (30%), Health and abuse (18%), Education and culture (16%) and Computers, Internet and new technologies (5%).

The report also reflects the activity registered in the 116 111 child and adolescent helpline, as well as the collaborative conferences, the Children’s Parliament and collaborations with institutional bodies and resources that were carried out in 2023.
