Pedro Bestard expressed his satisfaction at having been able to recover an emblematic fair for many Mallorcans, after more than a decade without being held under the organisation of the island institution. ‘This fair allows us to highlight the value of the deep-rooted nature of hunting in Mallorca and the important work carried out by hunters, farmers and stockbreeders in the preservation of our natural environment, one of our most precious assets’.

This Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday, the public will be able to enjoy more than fifty exhibitors and stands of local products, as well as a wide range of activities, exhibitions and displays for all ages related to hunting.

Exhibitions of carriages, agricultural machinery and vehicles.

An important display of traditional crafts related to the countryside and utensils from traditional farming and hunting trades, a bow hunting simulation and an exhibition of more than 15 antique carriages used in farm work are some of the activities included in the programme. There will also be an exhibition of agricultural machinery and another of vehicles.

For their part, associations, clubs and federations related to the rural world and hunting will be taking part in the fair in some thirty exhibition tents where they will be showing their activities.

Falconry birds, herding dogs and horse racing

During the two days of the fair, the public will be able to see various parallel activities such as archery, hunting exhibitions with horses and falconry birds, herding dogs, equine handling and greyhound and horse racing.

The event will include a demonstration of Mallorca’s old trades. This is an improvised theatrical performance that will serve to raise awareness of trades that were common 60 years ago and are no longer in use.

The exhibition will feature a live culinary demonstration in an event led by the popular chef Koldo Royo, who will prepare game dishes.

The prizes for the hunting photography competition will also be awarded, and the winning images, together with other selected images, will be exhibited during the fair.

Act of recognition

On Sunday, several activities will be held, including a ceremony in recognition of the careers of five people closely linked to the world of hunting, which will be attended by the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés.

The venue is divided into six different areas, with a large area for sports games and entertainment for children, as well as a restaurant service at the Hippodrome, where a wide variety of dishes will be served, including game dishes.
