The Councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, emphasised that ‘100% of the approved credit has been granted’, and explained that ‘the non-profit organisations that have been left out can also take advantage of the call for applications approved this summer, which will be published on 15 October’.

In total, 39 entities have applied for the aid of this call, of which 23 have finally been able to apply. ‘In 2023, only 19 entities were able to receive this aid, while this year 23 will receive it. These results are a good indicator that the grants we provide are much more extensive than last year,’ said the Councillor for Economic Promotion, who added that ‘we are already working on the next 2025 aids, to improve the requirements and expand the total amounts to reach a greater number of beneficiary companies’.

Beneficiary entities

The beneficiaries include several regulatory councils for products with protected geographical indication (PGI) and designation of origin (DO), such as Vino de la Tierra Mallorca, Almendra de Mallorca, and Aceite de Mallorca.

Other non-profit organisations such as the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Balearic Islands, the Artà Business Association (AEA), Agromallorca Agrupación de Defensa Vegetal, Estel de Llevant, Asociación de Cocineros Afincados en las Islas Baleares (Ascaib), CAEB, Asociación Ferial del Caracol and the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Balearic Islands, among others, will also receive the subsidy.

All of them will carry out various projects related to the island’s produce, such as exhibitions, promotional campaigns, cooking championships, actions to promote local varieties, etc., which aim to raise awareness and promote local consumption.
