Fira B! 2024 kicks off today with a new edition of Artes Escénicas
The inaugural event will be held today, the 3rd of October, at 8:30 pm in Palma’s Teatre Principal, with the play Els dies bons, by Produccions de Ferro, based on the novel of the same name by Aina Fullana. The closing of the Feria B! performing arts fair will be on Sunday the 6th of October at the Teatre Municipal Xesc Forteza. At 8.30 pm, Marilén Ribot’s company will perform Cuirassa Oberta, winner of the award for best female performance 2023 by the ATAPIB – Association of Public Theatres and Auditoriums of the Balearic Islands and which has received a grant for Creation from the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics.
Fira B! 2024, as in other editions, combines artistic programming and professional conferences dedicated to the sector.
The programme is made up of 18 works from the Balearic Islands and 7 pieces from outside the Balearic Islands. Among the proposals from the Balearic Islands, there is a presence from Ibiza, with the company ses Honorables Virtuts Il-lògiques, which will present El Viatge; and from Menorca, with Resistència Teatre, which will present Yo soy una fiesta, the winning play of Art Jove 2023. On a national level, several collaborations and synergies will take place: the exchange with Dansa València, which allows the presence of the Valencian company Eyas Dance, the collaboration with the Xarxa Alcover, which presents today its programme Trànsit, or an agreement with Fira Tàrrega, among others.
It should be noted that the guest country at this ninth edition is Switzerland, with the presence of two companies in the programme, I’m not a Hero, by Fluctus, and Maybe a Concert, by Raissa Avilés, thanks to an exchange programme between Fira B! and the Swiss festival Territorio, from Bellinzona. In addition, a company from Holland, United Cowboys, will be taking part, presenting their piece ‘Cabeza en las nubes’, a creation performed by the Mallorcan dancer Eulàlia Bergadà.
As for the Professional Conferences, dedicated to the sector, they will be held at the Mar i Terra theatre every morning, from today until Saturday. There will be talks, workshops, presentations and speed meetings. It should be noted that Natalia Lloreta, executive director of FiraTàrrega, will be present at the Fira B! professional days, in the activity ‘Inhabiting the space from the living arts’, a round table and workshop coordinated by the Colectivo Güilis, from Mallorca, with the presence of members of the Kamchatka company and the Spasa training group.
The main themes of the professional sessions are collaboration and the creation of synergies, mediation and how to inhabit the public space from the living arts; as well as sustainability, co-production and tools for artists (rights, marketing, etc.), among others.
