The Government rejects the idea of subjecting state funding to measures in the state law that are not legally binding for the autonomous communities.
The Government of the Balearic Islands will open a new call for Bono Alquiler Joven for 2024 and 2025, once the extension of the programme, which had been demanded since last year by the Balearic executive, has been unblocked today during the meeting in Madrid of the sectoral Conference on Housing and Urban Agenda, between the Government of Spain and the autonomous governments, and in which the Director General of Housing and Architecture of the Government, José Francisco Reynés, has participated.

The government will open a new call for Bono Alquiler Joven for 2024 and 2025 after unblocking the state extension of the programme
At the conference convened by the Ministry of Housing and the Urban Agenda, the distribution of state resources to finance the Bono Alquiler Joven programme for the 2024 financial year was approved. Thus, pending approval by the Council of Ministers, the Regional Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility can now begin to prepare the call for applications for this line of aid for 2024 and 2025, with a view to its approval and publication during the first quarter of next year.
The Balearic Islands will receive 4.8 million euros for this aid in 2024 for the new call, the same annual amount as the previous call 2022-2023, according to the territorial distribution communicated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda. This aid is aimed at young people up to 35 years of age who have monthly rental contracts for their permanent and regular housing. A year ago, the government demanded the extension of the Bono Alquiler Joven from the Ministry.
The amount of the aid is up to 250 euros per month for two years and young people with monthly rents of up to 900 euros in the Balearic Islands are eligible, under the requirements set by the Ministry. From the previous call of the Bono Alquiler Joven 2022-2023, the Govern de les Illes Balears has made nine payment resolutions for a total amount of 6.5 million euros and nearly 1,400 beneficiaries (1,379).
On the other hand, at the meeting, and in the context of the debate on the new State Housing Plan, the Government of the Balearic Islands, along with other communities, expressed its ‘rejection’ of the approach of the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, of making state funding for housing subject to the application by the autonomous communities of measures included in the State Housing Act, even though these are measures that are not obligatory but are optional for the communities, such as the declaration of stressed areas.
